How to Prepare for a Neck Lift

neck lift

As we age, the youthful contours of our face and neck are replaced by excess fat beneath our chins, fat bands around our neck and loose, sagging skin. At Sule Facial Plastic Surgery Clinic, we want you to know that you don’t have to settle for looking your age. You can look as young as you feel! Today, we’re discussing the most important steps related to how to prepare for a neck lift.

How Can I Prepare?

Stop Smoking

If you’re a smoker, this is the hardest but most important thing you can do when preparing for a neck lift. You can’t just plan to cut back. You must be committed to not smoking for a set amount of time preceding and following your procedure. Cigarettes contain nicotine, which increases your blood pressure and will affect your neck lift and your recovery process.

Take Time Off of Work

During your initial consultation, we’ll assess the scope of your neck lift. From there, we can give you a good estimate for how long you can expect your recovery process to take. However, we may advise you to secure at least a full week off of work. This gives you plenty of time to rest and recover.

Freeze Several Healthy Meals

You won’t want to cook after your neck lift, but your body needs plenty of nutrients to heal. Freeze several healthy meals that you can easily reheat, so you don’t have to worry about what you’ll eat after your procedure. If you’re not sure what to cook, ask a licensed nutritionist to help you make a meal plan.

Wear Comfortable Clothes

A neck lift is an outpatient procedure, so you’ll be able to go home on the same day you came in. While you don’t need to pack any overnight clothes, what you wear on the day of your neck lift is extremely important. Wear a comfortable, loose-fitting, button-up blouse that you won’t have to pull over your head to get off and on.

Prepare Your Recovery Room

Before you come in for your neck lift, you should have a room prepared for you to recover in. This room should have plenty of throws to keep your head in a comfortable position.
