Skin cancer is a widespread disease that affects millions of people each year. Mohs surgery is used to treat various forms of skin cancer by completely removing the cancerous tissue. This procedure is the most common solution for most forms of skin cancer found on the head and neck.
The basic steps required to complete Mohs surgery begin with cleaning the area and numbing it. The cancerous tissue is then completely removed layer by layer until no more traces of cancerous cells are present.
The surgery is done as an outpatient procedure, meaning the patient is free to return home afterwards, with no overnight stay in a hospital necessary.
